Traditions from Home to University

A really important habit that I have tried to adhere to is taking my foot wear off once I enter my room. This is a tradition that my family and I practice at home, before entering the house, so that we don't bring in the dirt from outside. Though it is a little difficult following it in a residence hall and my room mates walk around in shoes, I try my best.

Whenever there is a Hindu festival, I just wear some traditional, casual clothes so that I can connect with my culture on that day. Not that I pray or worship or anything, but it feels good that I'm trying to uphold some customs.

Second week with Illustrator

I have finally sent my Illustrator project for the Vinyl cutting, so I am yet to see that! Not any major difficulties, just that it was hard to locate and clear extra anchor points and overlapping lines. For that I had to keep zooming in and highlighting ever line, path, and points.

Inspirational Artist: Amrita Sher Gil

She's an iconic artist of India. Though she was biracial, her connection was with Indian culture. She broke many cultural draw backs through her works, conveying social norms and giving hints about her own sexuality. Sher Gil is known as the Frida Kahlo of India

First week with Illustrator

My week with illustrator was initially a struggle, but slowly I got a hang of it, especially with the anchor points and paths. For my vinyl project, I have already chosen an image, which is one of my high school art pieces. I have started working on it, in terms of clearing off small details and filling in spaces, so that the cut will be clean.

Face merging

This weekend I know that I had improved on my skills in Photoshop because I had successfully managed to merge my face to the painting "Girl with Pearl Earring" by Johannes Vermeer. I chose that painting because it's one of my favorite paintings and I think the subject is very beautiful.

I look forward to learn Illustrator next!

Photoshop

For two weeks, I have used Photoshop for the first time in my life. It was pretty interesting but also quite difficult to learn, because the skills are intricate and a little complicated. I had experimented and worked with photoshop using a regular mouse and my graphics tablet. I found out that there are some tools which are easier to use with a mouse and some which are easier with the tablet.
